Pumpkin toadlets tend to be less than 2.5 centimeters in body length and they live in the leaf litter on the forest floor of the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil. And as more members of the genus Brachycephalus are described by researchers, we seem to find out more and more odd things about them.
At least two species have bones that fluoresce under UV light. These same two species also can’t hear their own calls. And four other species have inner ear canals that are so small that it impairs their system of balance, so they can’t land their own jumps.DETAILS
